Today is my day on the Lulabelle blog tour! And oh my -- Dodi Lee Poulsen created an absolutely gorgeous, fun and whimsical fabric line for Riley Blake Designs. There are three colorways and it was so hard to choose which fabrics I wanted to work with because they are all truly stunning...
I am beyond excited to share my projects with you all and how beautifully this fabric line comes together! And of course you won't want to miss the details for an awesome giveaway of Lulabelle yardage at the end of this post!
For my first dress, I chose the Lulabelle Bowtie in Navy for the bodice and Lulabelle Medallion in Cream for the skirt. When I received the fabrics I knew I wanted to create a Boheme Sky with these two prints. The Boheme Sky pattern is made for knit, but since this line is woven I sized up to get the perfect fit for my niece. I also modified the pattern to include an underskirt with a lace ruffle and a tie on the back bodice. I'll be posting a tutorial on the blog on how to alter the pattern to achieve this look in the next couple weeks (you can sign up for our newsletter to receive the link when the tutorial has been posted).
Definitely one of my favorite photos from the day! Sweet cousins, gorgeous fabrics, lovely dresses and beautiful lighting -- doesn't get much better than that...
I chose Lulabelle Main in Navy, Lulabelle Petal in Mint and used my Wanderer Tunic pattern to create the second dress. I wanted to show off more of the main print so I decided to alter the pattern by lengthening it to create a dress. I also added an elastic casing to cinch in the waist.
